  1. Wow....that is amazing details. I will definately use your experienceas I am also installing the same exact system and using my shed. Instead of mounting the panels on my shed I will probably mount a solar rack and run it into my 100 amp service shed and do the disconnect at the main meter just like you did. I really appriate you taking the time to publish your experience with your install. Like you I am technically inclined and do most jobs myself. You get more appreciation of the final results this way. On a side note the cost that installers are charging to do this work is astronomical and not feasible if you don't do the work yourself. Thanks again sir!!!

    I'm glad you found it helpful. I don't recall if I mentioned this, but the utility company didn't want me to mount the disconnect on the shed, since it would not be visible from the street. They had me move it next to my utility meter. That made sense. The downside to this is that the disconnect shuts off power to the whole shed and not just the solar panels. This is, however, a compromise I could live with.

    Now off to figure out why the comments field appears minimized on this blog.....
